Thank You

Thank you, for those who came out to the Bellingham Holiday Port Festival. It was a ton of fun for all of us, and the ginger bread houses were a delight!

Videos of the performance will be available as soon as I receive them :)

Afterwards, we ate at Dirty Dan Harris, which is a very delicious steakhouse and I highly recommend it if you are ever in the Bellingham area.

Until Next time...

CDs in my Car

CDs from the Car Every few weeks, or so, I take the time to clean the CDs out of my car, and exchange them for new ones. I own a lot of music, as my commute to work is over an hour. The majority of my CDs are burned from iTunes, but I'll still purchase the physical ones, especially if I find a good deal. I get most of my CDs now from Amazon, as it gives me time to browse and preview the music. In the days of lore, one could travel to the record store, and listen to previews of the CDs there, at the store. I'm not sure if you can do that anymore, but with Amazon available, it is much desirable to traveling to the store and using headphones previously used by hundreds of strangers, to listen to the music. This is just a much easier way to make a selection, especially since I nowadays, one can shop and order from their cell phone.

What I Have:

Purchase Karmin's CD

"Karmin," by Karmin. I love this album because of the stunning way Amy Heidemann combines rapping and pop vocals into something beautiful. What's unique about this album? She can sing very well, and also rap very well! A rarity.

Purchase "Selections from Cats"

"Cats" is one of my favorite musicals, ever. I just love Andrew Lloyd Webber's music, especially in Cats. It's so unpredictable, and beautiful at the same time. One of the things that inspired me to take piano and voice lessons as a kid, was this musical.

Purchase "Born this Way

Lady GaGa's "Born this Way" album is simply amazing. I always turn this up real loud in my car, and sing along. I really enjoy how some of the songs completely fill a wide range of pitches, and leave little empty space. She also does amazing ballads, and really shows that an Alto can shine.

Purchase "Red" by Taylor Swift

I absolutely love Taylor Swift, and can relate to almost every one of her songs! She has such an uncanny ability to write about love, in a realistic way, and not make it sound cheesy. She certainly isn't poetic with the way she writes, but I fall in love with all of her albums. Particularly I like "Red" because she branches out to many different styles, with a majority of her songs reminiscent of Avril Lavigne. The best part? She gives a huge "Thank You" to her fans, which I always appreciate!

Purchase "What Lies Beneath" from Tarja

Tarja Turunen is another one of my favorite vocalists, but more in the sense of her technique. She has a way of making her voice sound pure, and sings her songs in the style of classical Italian Arias. I absolutely love her, and she was a huge inspiration to me when I began performing voice myself. As for the music, she does an amazing job mixing three things I love: Musical theater, heavy metal, and classical voice!

Purchase "Neverworld's End" by Xandria

Xandria! They recently changed their sound, and are now in the style of "old" Nightwish: Power metal riffs, mixed with piano/orchestra, mixed with a beautiful voice in the style of classical arias. Simply amazing; definitely a CD I turn all the way up in my car. Also, another tribute to a successful Alto.
